Welcome. Marcia Ash is a dedicated practitioner offering a diverse range of therapeutic services, including counselling, psychotherapy, supervision, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing), yoga, mental health training and shamanic practices, to individuals and groups in North East England, UK and worldwide.
Marcia Ash is a highly qualified and experienced Psychotherapist with over nine years of continuous post-qualifying practice. As a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) she specialises in complex mental health cases, including trauma, PTSD, bereavement, anxiety and depression.
Marcia’s role as a Psychotherapist has included work within the charities, higher education, litigation, expert witness, Employee Assistance Programme and prisons. Her extensive experience includes managing complex caseloads and offering short/long-term therapeutic interventions and writing assessments and reports, relating to mental health and trauma.
In her group facilitation roles, Marcia has worked with grief, loss and bereavement, breathwork, and LGBTQIA survivors of trauma, providing insight into the psychological impacts of discrimination, violence, and marginalisation. Her expertise extends beyond therapeutic practice into academic roles, training, supervision and group facilitation, making her well-suited to support individuals and groups through their challenges towards growth and transformation. She also delivers specialist mental health, grief, and trauma trainings.
Marcia’s experience comes from a varied, colourful and unique career within nutrition, cultural management, and mental health research.
Marcia provides a safe and confidential space to facilitate the journey to help people understand the challenges they face. This leads to self-discovery and finding meaningful choices within a purposeful life. As a pluralistic, person-centred practitioner she encourages the development of a collaborative relationship to co-create a bespoke experience for each person or group.

Marcia has over 5 years experience of providing both clinical and creative supervision to therapists within their therapeutic practices. She is also a trainer on Next Steps Psychotherapy Advanced Diploma in Clinical and Creative Supervision (Accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society).
Combining her practical experience with a strong academic foundation, Marcia has become a trusted authority in mental health-related Expert Witness & Litigation Psychotherapy. Her extensive experience in mental health, trauma and bereavement, and a commitment to ongoing professional development enable her to provide clear, detailed, and unbiased reports, that communicate complex psychological concepts in a manner that is accessible to her clients, legal professionals and the courts.
With a focus on ethical practice and a deep understanding of her clients' needs, Marcia delivers expert witness services that are grounded in both clinical expertise and compassionate care. Whether in cases involving trauma, abuse, or mental health assessments, her insights and testimonies are thorough, credible, and rooted in her extensive professional experience.
Marcia has over 30 years’ experience of training and group facilitation. This includes the design, delivery and assessment of training packages for practitioners, employees, service users and the clients of charities, corporate and higher education organisations.

For over 30 years Marcia has practised many styles of yoga. She has completed over 900 hours of teacher trainings in the UK and India including: Dru, Vinyasa, and Post Graduate Diplomas in Back Pain Management, and a Meditation Teacher Training.
Marcia creates a vibrant flowing fusion of Dru and Vinyasa Yoga. Her classes are fun, accessible and raise vitality. Using warm-ups, sequences, and deep relaxation, to create a sense of an energised, calm, meditational and peaceful state of wellbeing, grounding and connection with the universal cosmic forces that power up our soul's journey.
Additionally, Marcia integrates many techniques to facilitate the seekers' understanding of nature’s elements, our relation to them and the transpersonal benefits of connecting with the self and spirit. This experiential growth work includes: Sweat Lodges; Shamanic Breathwork, a specific breathwork technique to facilitate connection with the unconscious; and Shakti Art Processing, to make personal growth and transformation conscious.

Following your enquiry: I offer a free, no obligation 25 minute initial consultation. This is a friendly and supportive meeting to help you feel at ease, with no need to prepare beforehand. This provides an opportunity to meet, understand your concerns and discuss how we might work together and move forward.
Booking Your First Session: If you decide to proceed with the therapy, we can schedule your first session at the end of our consultation, if you need time to reflect you can return later to book this session. Prior to your first session I email specific questionnaires and a contract, to be returned prior to your first session along with your Zoom link.
Your First Session: Here we discuss your therapy needs and preferences and explore the overview of what you most want help with.
I offer 50, 60, 75 or 90 minute sessions.
For Yoga or other trainings on Trauma, Mental Health, Grief and Loss, LGBTQIA+ Mental Health, or Shamanic Breathwork, please contact me to discuss you or your company's needs.
All payments are made by bank transfer, 48 hrs prior to your session. For your first appointment I request payment for two sessions. One for your first session and the other as a deposit, therefore, you pay for one session in advance and at your final session no payment required.
